NEW BOOK: “Revolution” by Russell Brand
We all know the system isn’t working. Our governments are corrupt and the opposing parties are pointlessly similar. Our culture is filled with vacuity and pap, and we are told there’s nothing we can do: “It’s just the way things are.”
Russell Brand lacerates the straw men and paper tigers of our conformist times and presents, with the help of experts as diverse as Thomas Piketty and George Orwell, a vision for a fairer, sexier society that’s fun and inclusive.
Brand – “You have been lied to, told there’s no alternative, no choice, and that you don’t deserve any better.”

Brand destroys this illusory facade of lies and pap.
Brand amusingly and deftly annihilates Morning Joe anchors, Fox News fascists, and BBC stalwarts.
Brand mixes wild stream-of-consciousness rants informed by interviews with Naomi Klein, anarchist David Graeber, and economist Thomas Piketty, with personal memoirs, calls to arms and, ultimately, a call to love.
Brand reminds Americans that when the rich are shafting everyone else, the planet is being destroyed, and everyone’s had enough… it’s time for a revolution!
FACT: 6 people whose dad founded Walmart have more money than 150 Million struggling Americans.
FACT: 85 plutocrats/royals/oligarchs have more wealth than 50% of earth’s population.
BRAND: “You can hear that is crazy, you can see that is wrong, you can feel that this is beyond disturbing. We’re told there’s nothing we can do about it, that this is ‘the way things are.’ Naturally, of course, that verdict emanates from the elite institutions, organizations, and individuals that benefit from things being ‘the way they are.’”
BRAND: Points out what Brad Werner of American Geophysical Union said that the capitalist system is so rapacious in its consumption of earth’s resources that the only hope we have to save the planet is for action to come from “outside the system.”
Russell adds: Outside the System “means us. We require radical action fast and that radical action will not come from the very interests that benefit from things being the way they are.”
Brand sincerely believes in getting back to his roots as an earnest activist, and told a recent interviewer he’s “ready to die for this.”
Brand: “These things were always in me. Politics is not something I’ve acquired through academia or influence, it’s something I’ve acquired through growing up in a single-parent family, being on the dole, then being a drug addict…Certainly this has been a huge learning curve the last couple of years…I had to change my beliefs….If you’re motivated by sufficient pain, you will change. We’re approaching a point where a significant number of people want to change.”

PAUL FARRELL, MarketWatch – THE GOALS OF THE 1% – WHO WILL DIRECT THIS GROWING CRlSlS? OUR DECADE FROM HEII WILL GET WORSE

2016. Reaganomics capitalism self-destructs, crashes, bank bankruptcies
“But what if history is not cyclical and slow-moving but arrhythmic,” asks Ferguson. “What if collapse does not arrive over a number of centuries but comes suddenly,” too rapid to respond in time. True to form, a new conservative president will keep ignoring the lessons of history. And, as Jared Diamond’s warns in “Collapse:” “One of the disturbing facts of history is that so many civilizations share a sharp curve of decline … demise may begin only a decade or two after it reaches its peak in population, wealth and power.”
2017. Class war and revoIution: Rich class loses big, surrenders
Warren Buffett saw the revolution long ago: “There’s cIass warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich cIass, that’s making war, and we’re winning.” But by the 2016 presidential election, political rage explodes into a new American CiviI War over inequality. The gaping INCOME gap pops a bubble, causes economic coIIapse. RlOTS spread preventing another massive bailout of our too-greedy-to-fail banks. New depression lgnites cIass rebeIIion.
2018. The Fed and Wall Street banks collapse, Glass-Steagall reinstated
We were Warned: Leaders need “the courage to practice long-term thinking, make bold, courageous, anticipatory decisions at a time when problems have become perceptible but before they reach crisis proportions.” Instead, they fail to act boldly, delay. History tells us leaders act in short-term self-interest, not long-term public interests, especially politicians backed by $Billionaires who see only quarterly earnings, year-end bonuses, next election.
