The War On Democracy
‘The War On Democracy’ is a award-winning documentary movie by John Pilger.
USA coups and exploitation and impoverishment of Latin American people for the benefit of the SUPER-RICH = Venezuela + Bolivia + Chile + Guatemala + Panama + Nicaragua + Honduras + El Salvador = Invaded by USA CIA EVIL. It is at times an uplifting story of local people loosening the horrible shackles of Washington-CIA exploitation and torture and violence.
John Pilger says: “[The film] is about the struggle of people to free themselves from a modern form of slavery”. These people, he says, “describe a world not as American presidents like to see it as useful or expendable, they describe the power of courage and humanity among people with next to nothing. They reclaim noble words like democracy, freedom, liberation, justice, and in doing so they are defending the most basic human rights of all of us in a war being waged against all of us.”
Visual proof of CIA manipulation of governments for the sole purpose of exploiting their resources and peoples = Repeated US-CIA intervention = Both overt and covert to toppled a Democratically elected legitimate governments in Latin American region since the 1950s.
USA-CIA in 1973 Ousted a democratically elected Chilean government of Salvador Allende. A US backed coup replaced the popular Allende who was improving the lives of his people. USA put in a violent military dictator –General Pinochet.
Ex-CIA agents talk about taking part in secret campaigns against democratically elected governments. = “If you don’t like what we (CIA) did TOUGH!” That includes torture squads.
Pilger investigates the School of the Americas near Columbus, GA = Trained Torture squads along with tyrants and death squad leaders. = Chile + Haiti + El Salvador + Brazil + Argentina = VIOLENCE CREATING HITMEN THAT WORK FOR CORPORATE MASTERS wanting easy money and resources by robbing entire countries.
The film tells vividly the real story behind the attempted overthrow of Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez in 2002 and how the people of the BARRIOS USED FACTS AND PEOPLE POWER rose up to force his return to power.
The film provides a new hopeful trend — The wider rise of populist governments across South America by indigenous leaders intent on loosening the shackles of Washington and a fairer use of the natural wealth for the benefits of all peoples — resources like oil are finally benefiting the people NOT just a SUPER-RICH Few who are willing to commit heinous acts to gain unearned wealth.
