SENATE PASSED AN IMMIGRATION BILL WITH 68 VOTES BUT HOUSE HAS FAILED FOR DECADES+ ON IMMIGRATION REFORM.

REFORM NEEDED = Economic common sense as USA is losing $100s of Billions without REFORM.

NOW Obama will shield millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation to SAVE 5 MILLION FAMILIES – CHILDREN UNITED WITH PARENTS.

Undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents will be able to apply to remain in the country and work + Help more undocumented young people (up to 35 from 31 previously) who came to the U.S. as children (DACA).

“Republican attempts to kill it in the crib.”

GOP Retaliation = Obstruct Obama’s nominations + Lawsuits + Impeachment

Obama could opt for a more conservative proposal.

Immigration advocates want Republicans in Congress to pass legislation that would grant a permanent reprieve to the undocumented.

“…we all must recognize that no executive action is a substitute for legislation, so the fundamental challenge of getting legislation passed through the Republican-controlled House remains the same.”

— Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) — Obama said repeatedly he welcomes a comprehensive immigration effort from Republicans.

New deferred action program = Fee-based, But GOP still will try to stop it through funding bills.

Relief is not expected to be included for parents of the undocumented young people commonly referred to as Dreamers.

“We’re at this moment where we see the fruits of so much sacrifice and so much hard work, but it doesn’t feel complete at the same time.”

— Praeli on parents of DACA recipients — “It’s a bittersweet moment”

A major new immigration initiative up and running in less than two months is a challenge.

Felons will be deported.

Obama’s legal team advised against expanding visas for high-tech workers and temporary agricultural workers — There was not statutory authority
