Bill Fletcher, Jr. is executive assistant to the national vice president of the American Federation of Government Employees and the author of the newly released book, ‘They’re Bankrupting Us’ – And Twenty Other Myths about Unions.

FLETCHER: The brutal Israeli assault on Gaza, MURDER of 1,900+ Palestinians, and immense devastation of Palestinians’ lives. But most African-American churches + NAACP + Congressional Black Caucus + The National Urban League + Other mainstream black organizations = Refuse any public condemnation of Israel = ALL SILENT.

Martin Luther King: “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” = Ignored by black community = Ramifications of the silence on justice.

FLETCHER: Black America is historical split on Israel and Palestine = Initially Accepted but After the Six-Day War more African-Americans began speaking out against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. Now they are quiet again. — WHY?

Rev. Heber Brown, Pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland

BROWN: It’s very unfortunate these organizations credible sources for human rights and rights for African-Americans are silent on the issue of MURDERS AND DESTRUCTION OF PALESTINIANS. Part of it is relationships these Black groups have with foundations and funders that are PRO-ISRAEL. = Funding of conferences and institutes by Pro-Israel conservatives siding with Israel = Quieting effect on Mainstream Black Groups to NOT speak out.

Black churches are quiet as Presbyterians voted in favor of divestment from Israel.

BROWN: I think part of it is ignorance of foreign policy issues not just in the churches but across all Americans until there’s some major crisis so we start paying attention. An Absent of Context as we are NOT a people engaged in world affairs as other nations are. + Bad theology around Israel that says Israel is promised land for a chosen FEW Jews with have divine right to this land = That silences many churches on Israel’s racist views against Palestinians = Christian Zionism??

BROWN: Right-Wing people like John Hagee, a televangelist for organization called Christians United for Israel = Christian Zionist are a white evangelical church that market their ideas to black churches with recruited African-American pastor as liaison = Goes around touting Israeli talking points and the occupation + they throw money at black pastors for what they call holy land tours = Send Pastors to Israel for indoctrination.

FLETCHER: How do you respond when some say “this is supposed to be the promised land to the Jews and Palestinians are interlopers?”

BROWN: I do not equate BIBLICAL Israel to TODAY’s state of Israel. Looking at events of the ’40s and the ’60s with the creation of TODAY’S state of Israel. The Bible and scriptures don’t talk about dinosaurs, but black Christians believe dinosaurs existed. As thinking people of faith we know the Scriptures must mesh with modern society in order to engage in the world we live. So more black Christians and Pastors must see the facts related to MISTREATMENT of the Palestinians by TODAY’s Israel which is NOT BIBLICAL ISRAEL = Make informed discussions based on the massive differences between a biblical telling of history and today’s facts = We as thinking people of faith must see these differences in many other areas of our lives

FLETCHER: When SNCC, the Student Nonviolent Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, issued its statement in 1967, it was demonized as anti-Semitism = Blacks have a complicated relationship with Jews as they call African-Americans anti-Semitic to stop any criticisms of Israel?

BROWN: Being reflexively called anti-Semitic is offensive for those who speak out against what the Israeli government and the Israeli military do. The purpose is to suppress free speech and it forces people into mute mode with a offensive slur or label. Israelis don’t like to be called or labeled racist just like black don’t want to be called anti-Semitic. = It is a complicated relationship between African Americans and Jews, but isn’t that normal in all relationships? So I would say to people that if there’s charges of anti-Semitism, I would say hold on, slow down. If we call right right and wrong wrong, that does not by its essence mean that we’re working for your destruction or that we hate you. It means we care and we want you to live up to the best of the virtues, values, and traditions. When these criticisms just result in a reflex it’s problematic, and must be stopped and the relationship improved.

There are so many courageous Jews who are standing up, speaking up, and facing immense ridicule from their own community because they’re saying, you cannot do this in my name, this is not the best of Judaism, you are besmirching what is the beauty of our culture and our people. I would remind those using ANTI-SEMITISM to suppress truth, there are Jews right now laying their bodies on the line to make sure that there’s justice, justice and peace in Palestine-Israel, and we offend their witness when we try to lump all Jews together. Less than 24 hours ago, I was marching in the streets of Baltimore City, Maryland, with Jews in Baltimore who were saying, “Not in my name”, “Free Palestine”. Jews were chanting, “Resistance is justified when occupation continues.” There’s a rich and vibrant spirit for justice and peace within the Jewish community with standing up on this issue. And I just choose not to offend their courageous witness by believing that they all think the same.

FLETCHER: A very progressive person on this issue of Palestine, takes what is called a very balanced view. But they were very fearful of speaking up on this, because they would face political pushback charging that they’re insufficiently supportive of Israel. Democrats very good on most issues, but SUPPORT FREEDOM FOR PALESTINIANS SUFFER WELL FUNDED SMEAR CAMPAIGNS.

BROWN: To be elected you got to work on your image — work on a long list. And somewhere on that list is you have to be vocal about supporting the Israeli military and Israeli government in the occupation of Palestine. OR ELSE A EXPENSIVE SMEAR will be funded by Pro-Israel MONEY! = Gets much more difficult the higher you go in electoral politics. Federal level becomes even more difficult for those who want to speak out for justice and righteousness. The right views on issues are NOT ALWAY IN LINE WITH AIPAC OR FDD.

USA AND ISRAEL SHARE REPRESSION TECHNOLOGIES:

Most Black folk don’t see the relevance in fighting for FREEDOM for Palestinians if it hurts their chances of winning an election and helping their own repressed people. It was helpful for me when I went to Palestine-Israel and I saw for myself the kinship between the oppression faced by African-Americans and the occupation faced by Palestinians, kinship, not only historically, but even modern-day cities like Detroit, Baltimore, Newark, and the rest, they have technology that’s used to conduct surveillance on black and poor communities. Some of that same technology, and in some cases some of the same companies, are involved in the surveillance of Palestinians as well Blacks. There is a direct connection there. = CAMERAS + DRONES + CHECKPOINTS = CLOSE KINSHIP in Racist Suffering using technology between Blacks and Palestinians resulting from Discriminatory laws.

If President Obama, for example, pulls out the talking point that many of the elected officials will say, “ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF” — Yet Marissa Alexander is facing 60 years in prison because she dared to try to defend herself.

BROWN: I am hopeful that with continued pressing and organizing, particularly between Palestinians, African-Americans, and courageous Jews, who are in this fight as well, the stronger our coalition can become to put pressure on elected officials just like AIPAC and other groups do.

REV. MICHAEL LIVINGSTON, DIR. NATIONAL PUBLIC POLICY, INTERFAITH WORKER JUSTICE

FLETCHER: With all of the issues that are facing black America, why should people give a damn about Palestine?

LIVINGSTON: Because in the church we believe in one common humanity created in the image of God. What affects one of us affects all of us, and it doesn’t matter where it happens. So there ought to be a deep concern on the part of any Christian, certainly, but I would say any person of faith, when devastating circumstances like this exist in even a distant part of the world.

FLETCHER: How do the black churches raise the issue of Palestinian murders like Presbyterian Church by boycotting Israeli products and divestiture from Israeli funding?

LIVINGSTON: Historically the African-American church has NOT been engaged in international issues.

FLETCHER: But the African-American church spearheaded the anti-apartheid struggle in the United States. + African-Americans were central to the anti-Vietnam War movement. = A history of engagement on international issues. But It’s striking this relative level of silence when it comes to Palestine.

LIVINGSTON: The African-American church has involved in blacks in Africa = Strong kinship. Also, in the Vietnam War, a high proportion of African-Americans were drafted to fight in that war = A central concern of our community. For Palestine, Muslims, and Arabs, we haven’t historically felt that same kind of connection. And, again, I lament that. I regret it. If you don’t pay attention to it, if you don’t educate yourself, and you only are subjected to the kinds of mainstream responses and analysis that you get in our media, and, of course, from Jewish organizations which are intent upon telling their story in the United States, it’s hard to get that deeper, more pervasive understanding of the roots of that conflict and why it persists today.

FLETCHER: After visiting occupied Palestine twice and being struck by the HORRIBLE conditions faced by the Palestinians in an apartheid environment that was worse than Jim Crow — Did you feel that the circumstances mirrored the African experience at all?

LIVINGSTON: My daughter just returned from Israel, and she was profoundly affected by this and felt deep similarities in our experience here and what the Palestinian population has to deal with there, going through those barriers and the physical segregation that exists there. It’s stunning how similar it is to what blacks experienced here. That’s one of the reasons why I think it’s so important for us to be more engaged in this and to raise our voices, along with others, in trying to address that situation. But absolutely I think those parallels are felt because they’re real.

FLETCHER: Watching the pictures from Gaza — What’s your reaction?

LIVINGSTON: It’s devastating, it’s sickening, because of the very current reality of the destruction and the devastation and the loss of human life, including and especially children, but all life there, and also because there’s the sense that it’s a drama that just keeps repeating itself and that the big pieces that have to be shifted in a deep and profound way in order to bring some real change there — USA is NOT helping make that change though we have such a profound ability to affect what’s going on there, to influence it — Beyond just talking about it, we just don’t seem to be exercising any of that muscle. INSTEAD WE REARM ISRAELI MURDERERS.

FLETCHER: We’re watching this having a very similar reaction. How do many people looking at exactly the same pictures have an entirely different reaction?

LIVINGSTON: It’s media, it’s education, it’s the relentless drumbeat of one (ISRAELI-AIPAC-WALL STREET) narrative to the exclusion of the other (PALESTINIAN VIEWS), so that when people see this or hear about it, they think the things they’ve been taught to think. Americans must listen to broader sources, like The Global African, Telesurtv.net/English, and The Real News Network, for example, if they don’t travel themselves or get in touch with people who have traveled.

LIVINGSTON: People must seek into their own circles people who have perspectives which are different from the dominant narrative in our culture, they never move and they see the same thing, and they don’t get engaged in this in a way that will help to shift the balance of influence, and eventually power, so that we intervene there like people who really do want to see peace happen to everybody involved there.

The Red Line and the Rat Line = SARIN was NOT TYPE Syrian GOV has BUT AQ Contractors and Turkey has that Sarin Gas.

2011 Obama & NATO military intervention in Libya without consulting US Congress.

August 2013 Syria: OBAMA was ready for Military Intervention after Sarin attack on Damascus suburb of Ghouta = Launch NATO air strikes on Syrian GOV for crossing a supposed ‘red line’ set in 2012 on chemical weapons. Then SUDDENLY two days before the strike, he sought congressional approval for the intervention. DELAY for Congress and subsequently cancelled when Obama accepted Assad’s offer to relinquish his chemical arsenal in a deal brokered by Russia.

Why did Obama delayed attack on Syria when he rushed into Libya?

ANS: Military leaders thought going to war was unjustified and disastrous. = Porton Down, the defense laboratory in Wiltshire, UK = UK got Sample of sarin used in attack = Didn’t match Syrian army’s chemical weapons arsenal. = NO case against Syria and Pentagon agreed and already warned Obama his plans to bomb and missile attack Syria’s infrastructure = Wider war in Middle East. = Led to canceling the attack. = Acute concern about Turkey and Erdoğan who was AQ Contractors.

May 2013 = 10 AQ CONTRACTORS were arrested in southern Turkey by police with 2 kilograms of sarin. = 130-page indictment accused them of purchasing fuses + piping for mortars + chemical precursors for sarin. 5 AQ Contractors were freed but for 5 others the prosecutor asked for 25 Years in prison. = Erdoğan has been covering up the AQ Contractors involvement – dismissed the arrests claiming the ‘sarin’ was ‘anti-freeze’. = MASSIVE LIE! Turkey Funds AQ Contractors expanded its access to chemical weapons. = Employee of a Turkish firm provided ‘price quotes for bulk quantities of sarin precursors’ = Go to Syria to train AQ Contractors to begin large scale production in lab in Syria’.

March April 2013 sarin attacks = Investigated by UN found evidence linking AQ Contractors to the first gas attack = 19 civilians + 1 Syrian soldier were fatalities = It was clear that AQ Contractors used the gas. – But ‘no one wanted to know.’ = Reports concerning chemical weapons were severely curtailed on ORDERS of White House chief of staff = Triggered by March and April sarin attacks and reports ‘no longer there.’ = CIA was troubled by the president’s red line: They learned nothing more about the president’s reasoning + Obama ordered the Pentagon to draw up targets for bombing. + White House rejected 35 target sets from Penagon as ‘insufficiently “painful” to the Assad regime.’ = Military sites + NO civilian infrastructure. = SO US attack plan evolved into ‘a monster strike’ with B-52 bombers + navy submarines + ships with Tomahawk missiles + standby search-and-rescue teams to recover downed pilots + Drone target selection + Eradicate ALL Assad military capabilities + Electric power grids + Oil and gas depots + Weapons depots + Command and control facilities + Military & intelligence buildings. = UK + USA to play a part.

29 August UK Parliament voted against Cameron join IN THE ATTACK! + French air force ordered fighter-bombers to join the American assault in western Syria. Late August Obama gave Joint Chiefs a fixed deadline for the launch. = September 2 ,2013 = THEN SURPRISE = Obama put attack on hold and turned it over to Congress. = Obama’s premise that only Syrian army could deploy sarin fell apart.

Credible Russian operatives recovered samples of the chemical agent from Ghouta = UK analyzed it and found it NOT a match with Syrian Capabilities. = Much too crude. = UK staff relayed their findings to USA joint chiefs ‘We’re being set up here.’

General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the joint chiefs, from beginning had been skeptical of Sarin facts on Assad’s guilt. = ‘There was no way they thought Syria would use nerve gas at that stage, because Assad was winning the war.’ = Dempsey told Senate Committee ‘there’s a risk that this conflict has become stalemated.’ = US strike on Syria would be a military blunder after UK Report that Assad did NOT USE SARIN. = US was committing an Unjustified act of aggression.

Joint chiefs led Obama to change course. = Story of turning it over to Congress was a Story decided to use instead of the TRUTH ABOUT AQ CONTRACTORS using SARIN = NOT ASSAD = White House told Pentagon that Bombing was called off because of intelligence ‘that the Middle East would go up in smoke’ if it was carried out. = ANOTHER LIE!

GOING TO CONGRESS = Replay of GW Bush’s autumn 2002 ‘When it became clear that there were no WMD in Iraq = Congress had endorsed the Iraqi war sharing the blame of BAD INTELLIGENCE. = If current Congress voted to endorse the strike then White House could wallop Syria and partially blame Congress for BAD INTELLIGENCE! = Obama’s move for congressional approval quickly became a dead end = Substantive hearings. = So out comes Plan B = Call off the bombings and Assad would agree to unilaterally sign the chemical warfare treaty to destroy all of chemical weapons under UN supervision. September 9, 2013, Kerry talked of Bombing ‘The risk of not acting is greater than the risk of acting.’ then responding to a question about anything Assad could do to stop the bombing, Kerry said: ‘Sure. He could turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community in the next week…” NYT reported the next day a Russian-brokered deal first discussed by Obama and Putin in Summer 2012.

The strike plans were shelved = White House could not afford to say: “We were wrong.”’ and Assad did not use Sarin, but AQ Contractors did with help of Turkey + Saudis + Qatar = CIA CALLS it a ‘Rat Line’ = Back Channel used to funnel weapons and ammunition from Libya via southern Turkey into Syria for AQ Contractors = Early 2012 agreement between Obama and Erdoğan administrations. = Funding from Turkey + Saudis + Qatar + CIA + MI6 = Arms from Gaddafi’s arsenals into Syria for AQ Contractors using Front companies set up in Libya under cover of Australian entities using Retired American soldiers to manage procurement and shipping run by David Petraeus = CIA director who soon resigned. Involvement of MI6 enabled the CIA to evade the law by classifying the mission as a liaison operation = LOOPHOLE = Benghazi ‘The consulate’s only mission was to provide cover for the moving of arms. It had no real political role.’ = OBAMA Admin abruptly ended CIA’s transfer of arms from Libya after the attack on the consulate, but the RAT LINE kept going. = US AND CIA lost control of what the Turks were relaying to AQ Contractors. = 40 portable surface-to-air missile launchers (manpads) were in AQ Contractor control (THANKS TO QATAR) in a few weeks used to shoot down a Syrian transport helicopter.

Obama steadfastly opposed Syrian AQ Contractors having such missiles = Might shoot down commercial aircraft.

End of 2012 = CIA believed the rebels were losing the war = ‘Erdoğan was pissed and felt he was left hanging on the vine. It was his money and the cut-off was seen as a betrayal.’

Spring 2013 CIA learned Turkish government was working directly with AQ Contractors to develop a chemical warfare capability including training in chemical warfare. Erdoğan knew that if he stopped his support of AQ Contractors it would be all over so Erdoğan’s hope was to instigate an event that would force US to cross the red line. = Erdoğan sought a meeting with OBAMA to argue the red line had been crossed.

May 16, 2013 Erdoğan and Obama and KERRY met at the White House = Working dinner dominated by the Turks’ insistence that Syria had crossed the red line = OBAMA agreed Assad ‘needs to go’ = Obama acknowledged PUBLICLY there was evidence Sarin weapons had been used, but ‘it is important for us to make sure that we’re able to get more specific information about what exactly is happening there.’ = RED LINE = Fidan for Erdoğan SHOUTED ‘But your red line has been crossed!’ = Erdoğan “waved his finger at the president inside the White House” = Obama then pointed at Fidan and said: ‘We know what you’re doing with the (AQ CONTRACTORS) in Syria.’ = Erdoğan did GET Obama to Allow Turkey to continue to exploit a loophole and export gold to Iran so Turkey could purchase Iranian oil and gas. = $13 Billion in gold entered Iran. = Cash cow for corrupt politicians and traders in Turkey + Iran + United Arab Emirates = Middlemen took 15% or $2 Billion skimmed. = ‘gas for gold’ scandal in Turkey in December 2013 = two dozen CROOKS + resignations of three ministers + chief executive of Turkish state-bank had $4.5+ million in cash in shoeboxes in his home.

Jan 2013 Obama closed the golden loophole 6 MONTHS LATER to placate its Turkish ally in the Syrian civil war. = Iran ‘accrue $Billions more in gold.”

Erdoğan exposed politically and militarily:

Without US military support for AQ Contractors ‘Erdoğan’s dream of having a client state in Syria is evaporating and he thinks we’re (USA) the reason why. When Syria wins the war, he knows the (AQ CONTRACTORS) are just as likely to turn on him – where else can they go? So now he will have thousands of (AQ CONTRACTORS) in his backyard.’ = ‘acute anxiety’ of Erdoğan Admin about dwindling prospects. = ‘the need to do something that would precipitate a US military response’ = only American air power could turn the tide. = CIA analysts ‘sensed that Syria had not done the gas attack.’ CIA Suspect = Turks + AQ CONTRACTORS ‘had all the pieces to make it happen.’ CIA gathered evidence to support its suspicions. = ‘We now know it was a covert action planned by Erdoğan’s people to push Obama over the red line. They had to escalate to a gas attack’ = Do something spectacular = Sarin was supplied through Turkey with “training in producing the sarin and handling it.’ = CIA Evidence = Intercepted Turkish conversations immediate after the attack. = ‘Turkish post-attack joy and back-slapping in numerous intercepts.’ = Super-secrecy flies out the window when it comes to crowing afterwards = Perpetrators claiming credit for success for Erdoğan’s problems in Syria: ‘Off goes the gas and Obama will say red line and America is going to attack Syria = That was the idea. But it did not work out. = None of this made it to the White House = Don’t contradict the president + US GOV can’t say anything after blaming Assad = US can’t blame Erdoğan.

Turkey’s willingness to manipulate USA in Syria = Recording showing Erdoğan and his associates on YouTube = Discussion of a false-flag operation that would justify an incursion by the Turkish military into Syria = AQ Contractors would Bomb area around sacred Tomb of Suleyman Shah ceded to Turkey in 1921 within Syria with Erdoğan publicly threatening retaliation. Voice of Fidan, ‘Now look, my commander [Erdoğan], if there is to be justification, the justification is I send four (AQ) men to the other side. Barring OBAMA Bombing, Turkey’s meddling in Syria will go on WITH Erdoğan’s continued support for AQ Contractors as things continue to go wrong for HIM.

USA can NOT go public on Erdoğan’s use of Sarin, because Turkey is a Nato ally, it’d be disastrous. Turks would say: “We hate you for telling us what we can and can’t do.”’
