FACT: AQ did not do the Attack but so called friends did.
FACT: NYT says Benghazi was not infiltrated by AQ and the attack was not meticulously planned, but there were warning signs. Rebels had Surveillance of the Mission at least 12 hours before the assault started.
FACT: Khattala known for killing of a rebel general, and then for declaring that his fellow Islamists were insufficiently committed to theocracy.
FACT: Khattala WIDELY told of his readiness to use violence against Western interests.
FACT: Ansar al-Shariah boasted a few months before the attack that his fighters could “flatten” the American Mission.
FACT: ClA intelligence failed as they focused on AQ ignoring Militia Leaders – made no mention of Khattala, Ansar al-Shariah or the video ridiculing Islam on Egyptian satellite television networks popular in Benghazi spewing outrage.
FACT: So-called friendly local militia groups called to help were instead hostile.
FACT: Stevens, like his bosses in Washington, believed US could make friends of the militia leaders.
