SECRET TRADE DEALS SO BAD IT HAS TO BE HIDDEN FROM AMERICANS!

HORRIBLE TRADE DEFICIT

TPP TRADE DEAL

“The Trans-Pacific Partnership would be an unmitigated disaster for everything from the environment to Internet freedom and working families… Members of Congress must be able to work to ensure that any proposed trade agreement is a fair deal for all Americans, not just the rich and powerful…Let’s be clear: A vote for fast track authority on the TPP is a vote for a deal that will hurt hardworking Americans and haunt every single member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, who votes for it.”

“The president has failed to find someone who is willing to introduce the bill. He’s got over 200 members to cultivate from, some of whom would like to have his support in the next election. But Democratic members are extremely skeptical of this.  We’ve tried free trade, and not only has free trade not improved the U.S. economy, it’s gutted manufacturing and driven down our labor standards,”

Elaine Supkis on CHINA

#1 China in global trade

US and Japan fall further and further behind

Japan and US = Conspiring to start WWIII = HORRIBLE IDEA

China = HUGE highly educated hard working population

Japan = Literally dying for DECADES = MASSIVE TRADE DEFICITS = IMPORTS UP 30%

US = Drowning in BANKSTER GENERATED red ink  and World’s #1 trade LOSER = CORPORATE MEDIA IGNORES = Cloaked in deep silence

Prolific Profit, China Is Now #1 Trade Nation In World, USA Is Second Rate, Deep In Red Ink

China = ‘The 50 Year Plan’ = surge in imports to hit a record $4.16 trillion in 2013 = $2.21 Trillion in exports + $1.95 Trillion in imports

USA = Trade at $3.57 trillion

Japanese = Bribed Reagan and owned a good chunk of Congress which is why they got away with one way trade with the US!

Chinese = Did the same thing by purchasing the entire Bush clan, uncles, cousins, all of them = bought cheap

60% of Chinese corporate leaders will NOT do business with Japanese firms

South Korean corporate leaders will NOT do business with Japanese firms = political tensions

80% of Japanese executives have no problem dealing with companies from the other two countries.

China and South Korea want nothing to do with the Japanese warmongers running riot there = nauseating, obnoxious, often xenophobic and racist remarks = the future written in blood.

Asian victims of previous Japanese imperialist brutality will wipe out Japan – Totally and utterly

Japanese better wake up and realize their downward peril = falling faster and faster.

Chinese Sovereign Wealth Versus US Sovereign Debt | Culture of Life News

So the US dollars were not spent. Japan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund can’t be tapped to save its own people because it would make the yen stronger. This, in turn, interferes with exporters in Japan. Increasingly, the life styles of the Japanese people have been declining as foreign trade expands just as this exact same thing is happening here. Our international corporations like this, they keep their profits overseas as well as shipping outwards and this, in turn, makes the general country’s finances worse, not better.

More exports=more profits overseas which leads to keeping these profits out of country. The declining taxes on these profits means governments have to tax citizens all the more to keep afloat or like both Japan and the US, simply silently run up immense government debts.

It now seems that the Chinese communists who are supposed to be cruel and stupid, are actually spending their own trade surplus profits to expand trade and increase the amount of money flowing back into China. That is, China’s export profits go back home, not to say, the Cayman Islands or Jersey Islands, etc. The government of China realizes that Sovereign Wealth is when a GOVERNMENT, not an international corporation, holds the profits from trade.

The problem isn’t just South Korea and China, it is also Russia which is angry with Japanese/US imperialist pretensions:  From 2009:  CHINA, RUSSIA & JAPAN: SOVEREIGN WEALTH POWERS | Culture of Life News

China is going to BUY the oil and lend Russia badly needed funds. Japan wanted this but insisted on tying the deal to settling issues about the Kuril Islands. Here are some headlines about this from this week:
pastedGraphic.pdf

And from September 2011:  Worst Sovereign Debt Countries Cannot Bail Out Global Banking | Culture of Life News

pastedGraphic_1.pdf

China and Russia are not stupid. Russia quietly surrendered to the West only to be looted and broken up. China knows the US itches to break up China after looting, this happened in the past when Europe invaded and looted China from 1800 to Mao’s final victory. 150 years of systematic looting and invasions left China broken and poor. Something they will be very slow to forget. It is no wonder the top nations holding sovereign wealth happen to also be the ones destroyed the most in WWII: China, Germany, Japan and Russia. The other amazing fact is, the top four nations also were either total national socialist fascist or communist in the past. This radicalization and then destruction has impressed the populations of these countries very greatly and they are hyperaware of what wealth really is, how it works and how it can be destroyed.

This article is only a few years old and Japan’s position at the top in this article is no longer relevant.  Japan is now slipping into the negative sovereign wealth ledger.  The US is dead bottom last.  Of ALL  nations on earth.  Pretending we are #1 has been a fraud for many years.  And then there is the Fukushima catastrophe.  The US has passively allowed Japan to fiddle while the Pacific burns.  Doing virtually nothing about this hideous mess.  The ocean is broken | Newcastle Herald talks about the garbage in the ocean from the tsunami and the radioactive horrors leading to a virtual wipeout of sea life.

The article also mentions the excuse for not cleaning up this mess is due to this being too expensive and would raise CO2 in the atmosphere so it is better to poison the ocean totally????  Talk about insane!  This is what happens when people can’t think about two things at the same time and figure out which is more important.

Then there are the experts at the Bank for International Settlements, a paper discussing Asian trade:  Asia’s decoupling: fact, forecast or fiction?  Asia never ‘decoupled’ because Japan is a parasite economy, note the huge efforts to weaken the yen so they can undermine US markets and take over more markets!  There is no desire to ‘decouple’.  When the yen got strong and it looked like ‘decoupling’ this was due to the Japanese unable to cheat and weaken the yen due to the US howling about China doing exactly that and screaming about punishing China for this sin while…telling Japan to also not do it.

Suddenly, gears shifted and the US allowed Japan to weaken the yen and voila!  Trade pours in…one way, of course.  The Japanese sigh with relief and US trade deficits get worse again.  Here is the bulk of the BIS study:

pastedGraphic_2.pdf

I love these magical formulas.  They are most interesting and pretty much useless.  You don’t need them!  The information to watch is simple to discern.  These elaborate formulas are designed to HIDE the reality, not expose it.  And since most of the data information points are NOT EXACT with reality, the ‘fuzz factor’ rises immensely when a dozen of these data points are mushed together.  That is, the answers are nearly always off by a considerable degree.

Watching trade figures, keeping an eye on sovereign wealth data and government red ink, one can pretty much make very good predictions of the future.  Add to that political issues such as population collapses or rising numbers of engineering and hard science PhDs and we see who is rising and who is collapsing.  The US hides even this data due to attracting students and others so the Chinese feed into our system boosting these numbers.  But few are migrating to Japan to go to universities there.  Fewer will go in the future if the Japanese insist on being aggressively racist.  Their collective inability to use English as a second language after many years of school shows how the Japanese are coping with foreigners.  That is, barely able to function at all at this point.

As I repeatedly warned, China’ possession of both the world’s biggest FOREX holdings of other, mainly dollar, floating currencies, the world’s largest holding of other countries debts, but also has probably the world’s biggest Sovereign Wealth Fund available for investment and purchases.  So China is no longer saving money but spending money and this is keeping much of the other G20  nations afloat.  Bailing out the EU is just one of the startling uses of all of this creditor wealth.  China also is refusing to bail out the US because we foolishly decided to use the Pentagon to project power in Asia.  So we will be ruthlessly reduced to printing money which then causes inflation.

For two generations, Japan and China have masked inflation in the US via buying our debts and holding trade dollars in inert FOREX accounts.  This era of passively using debt here in the US to run our vast trade deficits overseas is about to come crashing down if Asian powers cease holding US dollars in their FOREX accounts.  Japan, for example, didn’t want to disgorge its immense FOREX holdings after the earthquake and tsunami so instead, the US gave them more banking help to make the yen cheaper against the dollar.

The US model whereby trade profits are held by individuals who then hide this from the government is obviously a wretched failure because this system has destroyed our industrial base, pushed millions of former factory workers into severe poverty or a life a crime (mostly as drug dealers) and put the government deep into debt.  The solvent Chinese system stands in stark contrast with the insolvent Japanese and US systems.  That is, the inability to tax trade profits lies in the dark heart of the crisis hammering both Japan and the US and is directly connected with the ZIRP system and declining wages of workers in the home base states.

In the EU, the crushing of social benefits continues so a General strike hits Greece, as the austerity vote looms.  This will spread since more than one EU country is going to see its social services cut ruthlessly while at the same time, the economic system is at its worse.  This ‘screw down on services during depressions’ is exactly what causes huge disruptions, revolutions and wars.  This is the core of the problem of pure capitalism which depends on coddling the rich: social services go up in good times and down in bad times which is wretched!

It should be the opposite and the point of having a government is to insure that social services RISE during depressions and then are reduced as good times puts people back to work.  The US housing crisis, for example, isn’t due anymore to speculators buying multiple houses with no money down and then flipping them.  These speculators are long gone.

The US housing market is now crashing due to people losing jobs.  As social services are cut and inflation in food and fuel shoot upwards, spending on social services collapse. For example, in the US, the energy program for seniors has been decimated by the GOP even as the cost of heating homes shoots upwards.  This, in turn, makes people on fixed incomes much, much poorer.  Cutting money for heating when fuel prices rise hurts the elderly and now Congress is talking about cutting medical care and other programs like money for nursing homes.

This, in turn, hammers other parts of the economy as we see teachers, nurses and local police fired en mass.  This increases the number of homes going into default on loans.  Decreasing the pay of government employees fixes nothing.  Since the rich demand tax cuts every time social and employee spending is cut, there is this futile sense of despair as attempts at balancing the budget evaporate every time it is done.  The rich’s demands for incessant tax cuts degrades the system meaning, as the depression grows, their wealth increases so they encourage it to get worse and worse just as public spending should increase.

That is, the need to seize the wealth of the rich in time of depression is uttermost.  If we protect the wealth of the rich and hammer the poor, we get an eternal depression.  The rich, after all, in export heavy economies don’t care if there is no domestic demand.  If profits are in exporting goods, they will have to PREVENT the workers from buying what they produce.  This means, more money for the exporters and cheaper wages and near-slave labor working conditions.

Examples of this are obvious: in Japan, back before Japan was totally dependent on exporting a lot, the workers had lifetime employment.  Today, this has vanished.  Over a third of the adult population is part time workers.  The full time workers no longer have lifetime employment and all workers have seen wages decline even as the government goes deeper and deeper into debt.  The ZIRP depression now has lasted two generations!  Major Corporations Oppose Rule Comparing Pay Of CEOs To Workers is typical of our rich: they are scared that workers might learn about how wealth is being moved relentlessly upwards into fewer and fewer hands.

Finally, everyone is noticing the next stage of the Chinese 50 Year Plan as China’s government, which has intercepted a great deal of the foreign trade profits, now moves outwards, spending its trade dollars before they totally lose value as the US frantically prints money to keep afloat:  BBC News – China seeks to raise its business interests in Europe

As well as dealing with the eurozone debt crisis, Mr Wen will be looking to boost trade. Chinese companies appear to be on something of a shopping spree at the moment.

This buying spree is all about ditching the dollar.  Our European and Asian allies who depend on the Pentagon and wild US spending on the military to project power and to wrangle with China and Russia are now holding US debt and dollars but this won’t last forever.  Again, Japan can’t do this.  Japan gains NOTHING by losing a trillion US FOREX dollars and nearly a trillion US debt.  When these go worthless, Japan will be helpless.

China can afford to lose all of this if they had to lose it so long as the loss causes the US to collapse.  But China is smarter than that: knowing the the EU and Japan CANNOT spend their US holdings, China is now spending its own holdings to buy up world resources and assets.  Each purchase makes China stronger and the US weaker.  Just not buying US debt anymore makes China stronger and the US weaker.  This is the potent power of being a creditor nation!  As I keep saying, this is a tremendous power: you get choices.

The present push to use capital to buy up world resources and displace the US is coupled with continuing changes within China. China Premier Wen’s call for reform draws accolades, and barbs ’The Path To China’s Future’.

“Without democracy, there is no socialism. Without freedom, there is no real democracy,” Wen told an audience at the Royal Society during his visit to Britain.

As I fully expected, China will move towards Bismark’s ideal of a socialist state with some democracy.  Not that we have anything to be proud about, our own democracy has been destroyed by bribes.  No matter who we vote for, once they go to DC, they are bribed and then end up working for various foreign entities.  It is rather funny for the Chinese to lecture the US and UK on ‘freedom’.  The Chinese don’t think we have a real democracy and I agree.  It is an illusion.

This is why the US is NOT some beacon of freedom for anyone.  People see us correctly as a police state with some small degree of freedom of speech.  This Constitutional right is always being eroded by the government and the courts for it is the only freedom we really have.  We can no longer demonstrate against the rich or the government (the Tea Party is pro-rich so they never were beaten up when they demonstrated even with guns in tow!).  We see our freedom of movement restricted more and more by ‘security’.  We have more people in prison than virtually any nation on earth.

Since our government is now cutting socialism during a depression, this is a sign we have no democracy here.  The riots in Europe shows who is in charge: the rich.  Not the voters.  In Iceland, the voters turned down the international bankers and told them to throw themselves in to a volcano and die.  But no one in Europe or the US can do this.  Our right wing government (most of both parties are anti-socialist) talks wildly of going into default as we head towards a budget crisis.  The GOP and DNC won’t cut military spending, our wars are expanding, and the only question is, what more will be cut from social spending before we go into an election.

Congratulations to the gay community for fighting so long for basic human rights!  For they can now marry.  Even as heterosexuals who are the working or welfare poor can’t marry anymore due to economic reasons, at least gays can do what the upper classes still do: get married for property or legal reasons.  Meanwhile, Pat Robertson warns God will destroy America over same sex marriage.

Will US workers fall for this?  Will they kill their own children, destroy their own futures in order to stop gays from kissing in public?  It is fascinating, seeing how hatred cooked up and used by fascists are used to destroy their own followers.

Back to the business of being a creditor power and how the US is following the destructive Japanese model of crushing workers while letting elites suck up all the trade profits for themselves:  The US cannot understand the power of being a creditor nation like China because of arrogance.  Here is one of the worst examples of a Jewish neocon brainiac bloviating about China and how the US can trick China into being our servants rather than a rival geopolitical power.  So, off we go to 1997 to read Kagan’s article about all of this:

What China Knows That We Don’t: The Case for a New Strategy of Containment – Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

Robert Kagan

WEEKLY STANDARD, JANUARY 20, 1997

The advocates of engagement — whom we might call “the new China hands” — offer a host of sunny assumptions about China’s future and the helpful role the United States can play in shaping it. China wants to join our international order, the theory goes, or at least can be persuaded to play a responsible role in the world if only we help China’s leaders understand what’s good for them. By engaging with China, Nye argues, we can “affect how the Chinese define [their] interest.” And as the Chinese come to view the world within the “larger context” we provide for them, “the prospects for conflict [will] diminish.” China, Zoellick believes, “should welcome regional stability and the avoidance of contests for dominance.”
Wilhelmine Germany was a nation on the move, with a dynamic economy, increasing military strength, and a rising ambition both to settle outstanding international grievances and to play a role on the world stage commensurate with its new power. Zoellick argues that the “failure to deal effectively with Germany’s rise led to seventy-five years of conflict.” The new China hands warn that the failure to deal effectively with China’s rise could have the same dire consequences.
Containment is unthinkable — a very dangerous “pipe dream,” according to Henry Kissinger. As Admiral Richard Macke, the one-time commander in chief of our Pacific Fleet, once put it, “What we have to do is make China one of our friends. We can’t confront them, we can’t isolate them.”

The new China hands insist that the United States needs to explain to the Chinese that its goal is merely, as Zoellick writes, to avoid “the domination of East Asia by any power or group of powers hostile to the United States.” Our treaties with Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, and Australia, and our naval and military forces in the region, aim only at regional stability, not aggressive encirclement.nd containing Germany. The problem was that Britain did not deter and contain Germany enough. In Crowe’s view, Britain needed to take a “resolute stand” against Germany’s challenge to the international order. Her Majesty’s government had to undertake “all risks of a possibly disagreeable situation [rather] than to continue in the path of endless concessions.” The British did not take Crowe’s advice until it was too late to avoid war. If the analogy with Wilhelmine Germany tells us anything, it is that the best way to deal with a dissatisfied emerging power is not to adjust to it but to make it adjust to you.
But the Chinese understand U.S. interests perfectly well, perhaps better than we do…. Even when the United States and its Western allies have no conscious designs to undermine dictators, we exert pressure merely by our existence — both as a beacon of hope to those living under tyranny and as a vast machine for the global dissemination of information. The replica of the Statue of Liberty erected by the students in Tiananmen Square was tangible evidence of these abstract notions about the global consequences of an information age dominated by the democracies. Deng himself said the democratic uprising had been “determined by the international and domestic climate.”

It is worth recalling the historical analogy with which we began. As Paul Kennedy explains, Wilhelmine Germany could not have been appeased “unless the British were willing to accept a substantial diminution in national influence and safety.” The new China hands wouldn’t dare make such a grim recommendation to the United States. But the strategy of engagement — an effort to steer a middle course between appeasement and containment — may be the most perilous of all. It neither satisfies the demands of the emerging power nor deters that power effectively enough to prevent a serious confrontation.

This is a willful misreading of history!  Germany became united and then did several things Britain refused to do.  The British elites believed in keeping the lower classes oppressed.  So, they figured, if this class of people were hungry, stunted, and above all, IGNORANT, the upper classes would have more servants, the lower people would lose fist fights with the elite boys, and the inability to read or reason would make them easy to control or cheat.   This is IDENTICAL to the US policy of keeping blacks from being educated or well fed.

Germany, on the other hand, decided that a strong peasant class that eats well and is muscular as well as educated makes Germany stronger!  So the Germans were better fed and got free schooling.  The invention of ‘kindergarten’ is due to Germany: they expanded the education to younger ages.  Then, there was college: free if you passed the tests.  All the other educational parts were all paid by the state, from cradle to grave.

This was viewed as an INVESTMENT and it paid off, hugely.  Germany went from an intellectual backwater to one of the top research nations on earth.  This was killing the British/US models and the US moved more and more into the German system, copying the kindergarten business, the state universities which began in the late 19th century, etc.  As we imitated Germany, we grew stronger.  Imitating England was fatal.

Quickly, Britain lost power as German industrial innovation shot upwards rapidly.  Meanwhile, Britain was at work on expanding markets via it military: taking over a country or territory and then forbidding them from buying either German or US goods, for example.  So Britain had this restive, angry population of foreign people who wanted to get rid of the invaders.  This cost a lot to run.  When Germany attacked England, it was very undefended due to all the troops and money being spent to hold down restive foreigners.

Germany’s problem was, they tried a military solution to the problem of Britain.  The Chinese discussed this a lot with me as we read history together in the mid-1980′s.  They did NOT want to be in the position of Germany before WWI.  And the key to this was to buy up US debt so that if we did threaten war, China would simply bankrupt us rapidly.  This requires delicate measures in that the Chinese would have to persuade other nations to side with them.  And eventually, Japan WILL side with China due to the simple fact, WWIII would mean the annihilation of every Japanese person.  There will be nothing left there when all the nuclear power plants are wrecked.

Japan can’t afford any wars at all.  Recognizing this is life and death for them and I suspect, the populace doesn’t worry about if China dominates Asia.  They are being crushed by their own leaders and elites, after all!  What do they lose if China runs things?  It cannot be worse than the present system.  And spreading socialism is the new Chinese style and this is funny as hell since this is what many Japanese would probably want at this point in time!  Not US-style rich at the top and everyone else paying through the nose for a basic education, etc.

CLICK for FAKED TRAFFIC STUDY that put peoples’ lives at risk

Bridge related Documents submitted by David Wildstein refer to a meeting between Port Authority Chairman David Samson and the governor one week before Bridget Kelly issued the order to cause ‘traffic problems’ in Fort Lee.

lmpeachment a potential for “Using the George Washington Bridge, a public resource, to exact a political vendetta, is a crime…. Having people use their official position to have a political game is a crime. So if those tie back to the governor in any way, it clearly becomes an impeachable offense… It’s hard to really accept the governor’s statement that he knew nothing until the other morning,”

 — John Wisniewski, NJ Assemblyman – noting additional subpoenas are likely Monday to FIRED Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly, and Michael Drewniak, chief spokesperson for Christie.

Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D) told NBC News Saturday Jan 11, 2014 that if Christie was at all aware of his aides’ actions, impeachment could emerge as a potential issue.

Aug. 6 or so – Bridge related Documents submitted by David Wildstein refer a meeting between Port Authority Chairman David Samson and the governor one week before Bridget Kelly issued the order to cause ‘traffic problems’ in Fort Lee = Important factoid  = Christie said he met for two hours with Samson whom he appointed as Port Authority chairman.

SAMSON’S ATTACK on Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye is UNFORGIVABLE!

Aug. 13: A deputy chief of staff to Christie, Bridget Anne Kelly, e-mails David Wildstein, the governor’s appointee to the Port Authority, saying, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.” Wildstein responds, “Got it.”

Sept. 6: Wildstein, the Port Authority’s director of interstate capital projects, orders the bridge’s general manager to carry out the closures.

Sept. 9: The Port Authority closes two of three local access lanes from Fort Lee to the George Washington Bridge, the nation’s busiest crossing, bringing traffic to a halt and turning borough streets into a parking lot. Records show Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich calls Port Authority to ask what is happening.

Sept. 12: Sokolich writes to Christie appointee Bill Baroni, the deputy executive director of the Port Authority, and expresses the belief that the closures were “punitive” and asks they be lifted. Some suspect they were put in place because Sokolich, a Democrat, did not endorse Christie for re-election. Records show Wildstein e-mails Kelly and Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak a statement saying the Port Authority is “reviewing traffic safety patterns at the George Washington Bridge.”

Sept. 13: Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye, an appointee of Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York, directs bridge managers to lift the closures, saying they violated agency policy and jeopardized public safety as well as the agency’s “credibility.” Records show Wildstein e-mailed Kelly to tell her of the change, saying, “We are appropriation going nuts. (Port Authority Chairman David) Samson helping us to retaliate.”

SAMSON’S ATTACK on Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye is UNFORGIVABLE!

Sept. 16: The Port Authority claims the closures were due to a traffic safety study.

Sept. 17: Baroni suggests in a conversation with Wildstein that they schedule a meeting “to stave off reporters.”

Sept. 18: Wildstein writes to Christie’s two-time campaign manager, Bill Stepien, and includes a story about the lane closures published in The Wall Street Journal. Stepien says, “It’s fine. The mayor is an idiot, though,” referring to Sokolich. Wildstein responds, “I had empty boxes ready to take to work today, just in case.”

Oct. 2: Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), chairman of the Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee, says he will convene a hearing to determine who ordered the lane closures and if they were politically motivated. Wildstein writes to Stepien that leaks by Foye need to be addressed, saying, “need to be sure all understand that a trash train bringing NYC garbage by rail through Westfield, East Brunswick, etc. is a very bad idea.”

Oct. 16: The Port Authority announces it will undertake an internal review to determine why the lanes were closed and whether proper procedures were followed.

Nov. 5: Christie is re-elected governor in a landslide victory over Democratic challenger Barbara Buono, a state senator from Middlesex County.

Nov. 13: The Port Authority remains mum on the lane closures despite mounting criticism and a barrage of questions from reporters at its board meeting in Jersey City. Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) files a public records request seeking information and documents related to the lane closings.

Nov. 20: With the threat of subpoenas, Wisniewski requests that top Port Authority officials including Baroni, Foye and Wildstein testify before the transportation panel about the closures.

Nov. 25: At a hearing held by the Assembly transportation committee, Baroni says the closures were ordered by his direct subordinate, Wildstein, as part of a traffic study and acknowledges making a mistake by not notifying Foye, police or the public. Records show Baroni asks Wildstein how he performed. “Good,” Wildstein said.

Nov. 27: Wisniewski subpoenas Foye to testify before the Assembly committee, and Sen. Richard Codey (D-Essex) writes a letter to Port Authority Inspector General Robert Van Etten requesting an investigation into the lane closures.

Dec. 2: Christie brushes aside speculation that the bridge closures were politically motivated, joking at a new conference, “I worked the cones. Unbeknownst to anyone, I was working the cones.” The governor said he had nothing to do with situation.

Chris Christie’s denials in George Washington Bridge closure scandal (video)

As the scandal has emerged and grown, New Jersey Gov Chris Christie has repeatedly denied any connection between his office and the decision by two aides he appointed to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to close two local access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in early September 2013. A compilation of his statements throughout the month of December 2013. (Video by compilation by Brian Donohue/The-Star-Ledger)

Dec. 6: Wildstein announces his resignation, saying that the controversy over the lane closures has “become a distraction, and I’m going to move on.”

Dec. 9: Foye testifies before the transportation committee that he was unaware of any traffic safety study being conducted on the bridge in September, despite the testimony of Baroni two weeks earlier. After the hearing, Wisniewski calls for Baroni’s resignation.

Dec 10: The Port Authority’s inspector general launches an investigation.

Dec. 11: A Democratic group connected to Hillary Clinton attacks Gov. Chris Christie over the Port Authority’s closure of lanes leading to the nation’s busiest bridge.

Dec. 12: Wisniewski issues seven more subpoenas as his investigation into the closures widens. The requests seek documents and communications from Port Authority officials to determine what they knew about the traffic-snarling lane closures.

Dec. 13: Christie announces the resignation of Baroni and appoints his trusted staffer, Deborah Gramiccioni, to the post. The governor says the change was planned regardless of the controversy, and reiterates he had nothing to do with the lane closures.

Dec. 17: U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, asks the federal transportation secretary to investigate and determine what oversight the government has over the Port Authority.

Dec. 18: Baroni and Wildstein hire prominent lawyers and request more time to respond to Wisniewski’s subpoenas. The assemblyman grants to the two men an extension until

Dec. 23, but subpoenas for five other officials still due Dec. 19.

Dec. 19: Wisniewski announces he has received documents subpoenaed from five Port Authority officials. Christie again dismisses questions about the bridge scandal as nothing more than political gamesmanship. Weinberg and Wisniewski introduce a resolution in state Legislature calling on Congress to do a top-to-bottom review of the authority.

Dec. 20 Sokolich, the Fort Lee mayor, refutes Christie’s assertion that no one called to complain about the traffic tie-ups caused by the lane closures. He says local officials reached out to the Port Authority multiple times for help.

Dec. 23: Baroni and Wildstein submit documentation requested by Wisniewski.

Dec. 26: Weinberg says the Port Authority has delayed its response to her request for more information about the closures made through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Dec. 29: Port Authority e-mails show the traffic jams caused by the lane closures delayed emergency responders.

Dec. 31: Wisniewski issues another subpoena ordering Wildstein to testify before the Assembly transportation committee Jan. 9.

Jan. 8: Christie’s deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, was aware of a plan to shut down the lanes and knew the closures would snarl traffic on Fort Lee streets, remarking in an e-mail, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.” Wisniewski says Christie has lost all credibility on the scandal, calls it a coverup and pledges to seek answers from Kelly and others. Christie says in a statement he was misled by a member of his staff, had no knowledge of the closure and calls the actions unacceptable. He promises to hold people responsible, but gives no details about who or how.

“l like to FlRE PEOPLE!”

— WlLLARD 2012

Jan. 9: In a humble Statehouse news conference, Christie apologizes to Fort Lee, the people of New Jersey and the state Legislature for the actions of his staffers and announces the firing of Kelly. He also says Stepien will not serve as state Republican Party chair or as a consultant for the Republican Governors Association. He later goes to Fort Lee and personally apologizes to the people and Sokolich. Under oath, Wildstein refuses to answer questions from Wisniewski and the transportation committee, citing his rights under the state and federal constitutions. The committee holds him in contempt, which is a misdemeanor offense. Six people sue the state and Port Authority in federal court, claiming their were harmed by traffic delays. They seek a class-action certification.

NY Daily News = His aides’ emails put the lie to rest = “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee,” Bridget Kelly, Christie’s deputy chief of staff, wrote to Wildstein on Aug. 13

“Got it,” Wildstein replied closing the lanes on Sept. 9, bringing traffic to a standstill.

NY Daily News = Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich began pressing Baroni for help.

“Is it wrong that I am smiling?” an unidentified aide texted Wildstein.

“No,” he wrote back.

And he added: “They are the children of Buono voters,” referring to Christie’s Democratic opponent, Barbara Buono.

When Foye began to undo the closures, Wildstein wrote Kelly, “The New York side gave Fort Lee back all three lanes this morning. We are appropriately going nuts. Samson helping us to retaliate.” Wildstein was referring to PA Chairman David Samson, Christie’s appointee.

Christie Stands by His Decision to Cancel Train Tunnel

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey defended on Tuesday his decision to cancel a train tunnel long planned to relieve increasing congestion across the Hudson River, saying it was a matter of principle.

Christie’s office said Tuesday that federal officials had “confirmed” that the tunnel would cost from $10.8 billion to $13.7 billion. But New Jersey officials had disputed that estimate a day after federal officials made it, according to the Government Accountability Office report, saying the tunnel would cost no more than $10 billion.

New Jersey State Assembly committee Friday released 2,000 pages in BRIDGEGATE

┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈▶

FINDINGS:

Another senior aide to Christie was aware bridge closure was not part of any traffic study.

Sept 9 Patrick Foye, the transportation agency’s executive director in e-mail said snarled traffic in Fort Lee did not follow protocol  and created “dangers to the public interest.” – expressed anger and concern about slow emergency response times that may have violated the law and not being told about the lane closures in advance – Foye used his authority to immediately override the decision four days after the traffic patterns were altered.

“Reversing over 25 years of PA (Port Authority) GWB (George Washington Bridge) operations, the three lanes in Fort Lee eastbound to the GWB were reduced to one lane on Monday of this week without notifying Fort Lee…I am appalled by the lack of process, failure to inform our customers and Fort Lee and most of all by the dangers created to the public interest.  I pray that no life has been lost or trip of a hospital- or hospice-bound patient delayed…(from this) “hasty and ill-advised decision violates Federal Law and the laws of both States.  I will get to the bottom of this abusive decision which violated everything this agency stands for.”

 — Patrick Foye, the executive director

Regina Egea, a member of Christie’s senior staff, got the Foye e-mail from Bill Baroni, a Christie-appointed Port Authority deputy director.

Maria Comella, Christie’s top communications adviser monitored the media reaction for weeks after several traffic lanes were closed in September – Emails prove

Earlier emails show the gridlock was orchestrated by top Christie appointees and was politically motivated.

David Samson, the Christie appointed chairman of the authority, wrote, “I am told the ED (Foye) leaked to the WSJ his story about Fort Lee issues-very unfortunate for NY/NJ relations….This is yet another example of a story, we’ve seen it before, where he distances himself from an issue in the press and rides in on a white horse to save the day.”

“Specifically traffic conditions required Ft Lee (Police) officers to remain out on corners, managing traffic instead of attending to public safety issues.”

 — Durando e-mail on September 9, the first day of the lane closures.

Baroni = there “can be no public discourse” on the controversy = COVER UP

“This is terribly disturbing and incomprehensive to me.  How can a decision (LANE CLOSURES) like this be made without it being discussed and considered at the highest levels?”

 — Scott Rechler, vice chairman of the board of commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich charged that Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police were telling residents of his community that he (the mayor) was responsible for access lane closures on the George Washington Bridge that snarled traffic for several days in September.

“Many members of the public have indicated to me that the Port Authority Police Officers are advising commuters in response to their complaints that this recent traffic debacle is the result of a decision that I, as the mayor, recently made…. This decision has wreaked havoc upon our community during the morning rush hour…Unquestionably this decision has negatively impacted public safety here in Fort Lee…. The basis, reason, or genesis of the decision is of no consequence to me; however, its profound and adverse impact on our community is of paramount importance to me.”

 — Sokolich wrote in a scathing September 12 letter to Baroni.

A PATHETIC 4 page traffic study – A JOKE – was made in Powerpoint with little substance in it.

Wildstein wrote “Charlie said you did GREAT” to Baroni  – Christie’s inner-circle -Charles McKenna, who serves as the governor’s chief counsel.

New Jersey Assembly Deputy Speaker Wisniewski, a Democrat, specifically questioned a meeting between Gov. Chris Christie and Port Authority Chairman David Samson that occurred one week before top aides to Christie ordered the access lane closures in Fort Lee.

New Jersey Lawmakers say the 2,000 page information in the records raises more questions in the investigation.

New Jersey Assembly Deputy Speaker Wisniewski, a Democrat, specifically questioned a meeting between Gov. Chris Christie and Port Authority Chairman David Samson that occurred one week before top aides to Christie ordered the access lane closures in Fort Lee.

“Included in these documents is a reference to what appears to be a meeting between Port Authority Chairman David Samson and the governor one week before Bridget Kelly issued the order to cause ‘traffic problems’ in Fort Lee.  By submitting these documents, Mr. Wildstein is telling us they are related to the lane closures in some way. The question that demands answering is how?… How much of the full picture was the governor’s senior staff given regarding the development of this lane closure project? With the tight control this administration maintains, it doesn’t stretch the imagination that they were given more information than they let on. When they were preparing spin control, how could they not have been given the whole story?”

— New Jersey Assembly Deputy Speaker Wisniewski

CHRISTIE APPROVES THE WILDSTEIN DEPARTURE LETTER!

Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for Christie, had dinner with Wildstein two days before the transportation official resigned about how to announce his departure from the Port Authority.  Wildstein wrote Drewniak, “Thanks again for all your sound advice last night, I always appreciate your friendship.”  In an e-mail on December 6, Drewniak sends Wildstein the finalized statement with the note, “This was my revised – which I sent to the Gov and he approved.”

Drewniak said the governor approved the final statement.

So Governor Christie wants us to think he took a 4 month MENTAL VACATION DURING ALL THIS!  That is not going to work.   NJ GOP = BEST OF DlRTY
