DEFINE:   Oligarchy meaning “to rule or to command” – power effectively rests with a small number of people distinguished by wealth, family ties, education, corporate, or military control – often controlled by a few prominent families who typically pass their influence from one generation to the next – possession of massive wealth is the decisive factor in identifying oligarchs – do not directly govern but rule through an intermediary – often tyrannical using oppression to get public obedience – rule by the rich or plutocracy or some oligarchs simply are the privileged FEW like a monarchy.
