#2 If I’ve done nothing wrong, I have nothing to hide. The definition of “wrong” can quickly change. THEN post your social security number and credit card information online, leave your curtains open at night. 4th Amendment guarantees a right to privacy – British used to search whole groups of Americans = Fought a revolution, and James Madison wrote the 4th Amendment.
#3 Media says NSA only collects my “phone metadata,” so I’m safe against all the terrorists out here in suburbia.
#4 Checks and balances in our system protect us against NSA overreach. Government now treats the Constitution like used Kleenex = The Patriot Act = Clapper and Alexander directly lied in that check-and-balance thing = Congress
#5 Trust the President – Obama or Bush or Christie on this = THEY HID THIS PROGRAM FOR DECADES – NSA shares Americans DATA with, at a minimum, British intelligence and the Israelis. NSA can also keep indefinitely any information gathered for “cryptanalytic, traffic analysis, or signal exploitation purposes.” – 1.7 million highly-classified NSA documents just walked out the door.
#6 Private companies like Facebook already have access to and share a lot of my personal data, so GOVERNMENT should have it too. You could stop using Facebook but YOU CANNOT STOP THE NSA.
