Intifada = Arabic word meaning “shaking off” right-wing policies of occupation and oppression by Israel and illegal Israeli settlers in the Palestinian Territories. Intifada involves mainly nonviolent methods = Boycott Israeli products + Quit jobs in Israel + Stage peaceful strikes + Peaceful demonstrations = NOT covered by biased US news agencies which show children throwing rocks and suicide bombings.

ISRAELI MURDERS in the WEST BANK unlike the victims in Gaza, whose charred bodies fill the feeds of social media, these dead are part of a war you don’t see.

VIOLENCE = Israeli peace activists beaten by right-wing thugs in Tel Aviv + Nonviolent protesting is a dangerous business in Israel/Palestine. = Nowhere is it more acute than in the West Bank. = “These dead are part of a war you don’t see.”

Sami Awad, Director of the Holy Land Trust peace NGO = “We’ve had people who are part of our nonviolent work, fully committed to nonviolence, [who] have had their homes raided and every piece of furniture turned over or destroyed.” + Sami’s been arrested and beaten many times + Vitriolic attacks in the press + Accusations of Hamas links.

SAMI = “Some senior members of Hamas came to us and said, ‘we want to know what this nonviolence thing you’re talking about is.’ And we were happy to train them.” = A willingness to engage persuasively with hard-liners shows a commitment to real change in the Territories

LONG BLOODY CONFLICT = Ferments and Creates anger and mistrust = Makes talking to all parties including enemies on both sides very dangerous.

Israeli peace activist Marcia Kreisel-Schwartz = “…any cooperation with Israelis — is seen as something that is against the Palestinian interests…actually are in some danger….” = tiny 76-year-old lady put on an Israeli government watch list, interrogated repeatedly and tear-gassed by the military. = We don’t talk about the Israeli anti-war activists chased into a Tel Aviv alley and set upon by fascists. = “I know that the world doesn’t know about the Israeli left,” Marcia tells me sadly.

Hamas lobs ineffective rockets into Israel = Symbolic Rebellion

FACT: Gaza conflict = Roots in West Bank grievances = “we are all Gaza” is said in all the Occupied Territories these days.

PEACE = NOT simply treaties signed by a few men behind big desks + Will be result of open protest + grassroots dialogue between communities + A cultural shift by both sides = “Rehumanize”

Israelis = Afraid of the Palestinians + Afraid of war + Afraid of hatred = BUT most don’t realize that it’s Israelis creating the hatred… = Must bring out the FACTS of APARTHEID Occupation into the Israeli consciousness, so it cannot be denied.

ISRAELIS are afraid of the hatred they CREATED.

SAMI says, ISRAEL’s “Politicians have failed us enough times. We can develop a movement of resistance from within. We don’t need to wait for anybody. We can mobilize ourselves. We can organize ourselves. We can become proactively engaged in nonviolence.” = Body count of Israeli protesters rises as ISRAELIS KILL ISRAELIS. = Closing off any voice calling for peace and sharing.

SAD TRUTH = Sarah Leah Whitson, director at Human Rights Watch: = “The Israeli military is responsible not only for reckless and unlawful killings in Gaza, but also for unlawfully killing Palestinian protesters in the West Bank. Because of (its) long history of operating with virtual impunity, more unlawful killings are predictable — unless Israel’s allies apply meaningful pressure.”

Obama, Cameron, et al, you have your marching orders.
